I think people sometimes have a tendency to get swept up in the excitement of new technologies and toys and wilfully ignore the costs that they may extract (just look at how many of those corporate blogs started with great enthusiasm a year or two ago haven't had any new posts for months). You raise an interesting issue, too, re: how to balance the provision of original scholarly content (which I think you do extremely well) with the need to keep back anything that may be published in non-electronic media.Bavardesshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10737120234578385755noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21165575.post-88543863283188454672009-11-12T19:00:52.212-05:002009-11-12T19:00:52.212-05:00Well, I know what you mean about the distinction b...Well, I know what you mean about the distinction between known as a blogger or a scholar. But from my viewpoint, I don't see the distinction. Your blog is always scholarly and I for one have learned a great deal from your writing. Ok, so given things in the UK and number of publications etc count for more institutionally (and I want to make a distinction between being a scholar and being part of an institution), and so on, but in your case you are known as a scholar by your blog readers. Now if we can only find us both jobs.theswainhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05919025515524894537noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21165575.post-84435339233449294702009-11-12T10:21:44.836-05:002009-11-12T10:21:44.836-05:00An archival question! This may go some way to explaining the tone of DOOM, and the great length; I wasn't satis compos mentis to make it short, sorry. Or it could just be my soul showing through :-) I do like that picture.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
