His claim that Aristotle took substance itself seriously and thus was also able to think the irreducible singularity of being - the way in which things remain always elusive to us even as we are able to articulate something of their truth resonates with my work in Aristotle on the Nature of Truth:

http://www.personal.psu.edu/cpl2/blogs/cplportfolio/2010/11/aristotle-on-the-nature-of-tru.html

In my first book, ,The Ethics of Ontology," I argue that these two dimensions of things - their accessibility and elusiveness to human logos and noesis - finds articulation in the term "tode ti." Here is a link to that earlier work:

http://www.personal.psu.edu/cpl2/blogs/cplportfolio/2004/05/the-ethics-of-ontology.html

I am particularly glad to have the audio of this discussion and look forward to hearing more about this exchange. I would invite anyone interested in these ideas to listen to the series of podcasts made about the book panel on Aristotle and the Nature of Truth that was held this past spring at the Ancient Philosophy Society:

http://www.personal.psu.edu/cpl2/blogs/cplportfolio/2011/04/aristotle-on-the-nature-of-tru-1.html

Thank you for this blog. I appreciate the way you are curating digital artifacts of philosophical conversations.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05696346400364955119noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21165575.post-34501126629052943402011-10-09T15:56:16.391-04:002011-10-09T15:56:16.391-04:00thanks ej, especially enjoyed graham's explica...thanks ej, especially enjoyed graham's explication in the q&a
-dmfAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
